Master of portrait. He made portraits of politicians, artists, normal people.
A lot of commercial photos.
I especially adore artists portraits which he took - Duchamp, Miro, Picasso, Pollock.
American Photographs /
James Danziger / Assouline
In this collection of photos, we can check a lot of historic photos made by american artists. A lot of world known photos like photo made by Neil Armostrong with american flag on surface of the Moon. Big part of photos are b&w, only small part is colorfull.
Subway Art /
Martha Cooper & Henry Chalfant / Thames & Hudson
Classic book for graffiti writers. But, i think very interesting for everyone. Focus on graffiti boom in new york 70s/80s. Explain every aspect of oldskool writing. Very good quality photos, a lot of oldskool trains, atmosphere of old New York.
In Graffiti we trust /
Martina Overstreet / Mlada Fronta
Album which presents history of graffiti in Prague from 1988 - 2005. A lot of photos, discussions between famous writers from Czech Republic. Book shows also which ways chosen few writers from graffiti. A lot of them are graphic designers, photographers, show they work in galleries etc. Very good editing by Pasta Oner and Masker.
Writing the memory of the city / Dokument
"(...) This book assembles 15 Berlin artists from a circle that originated in writing. They are linked by a long, partly shared experience in Berlin's public space. The reader is given an insight into the ideas and thoughts of a heretofore hermetic movement, whose effects are manly revealed on the surface."
We can read also very interesting essays focused on city/city activitions.
Spair, Matthias Wermke, Akim One, Bus 126 and more.
